What does a website actually cost?
A site starts at $500, quoted as one fixed number before any work begins. Hosting and maintenance is $50 a month after that. Every price is published on the pricing page — you won't have to ask what something costs.
Why not just use Squarespace or Wix?
If you want to build and maintain it yourself, do. Those tools are fine. You come to me when you'd rather not think about it: the site gets built for you, hosted on AWS, kept patched, and fixed when it breaks — without you learning a page builder or wondering why the contact form stopped sending.
What happens if something breaks at 9pm?
Monitoring alerts me, not you, and on the maintenance plan fixing it is included rather than billable. You email one address and the person who reads it is the person who built your site.
Do I own the site, or are you renting it to me?
You own it. The domain is registered in your name, the source files are yours, and if you ever want to move to another host or another developer, I'll hand everything over. Nothing here is built to lock you in.
You're one person. What if you get hit by a bus?
Fair question, and the honest answer is that it's the real trade-off of hiring one engineer instead of a firm. It's why everything is built on standard, boring technology any competent developer can pick up, why the infrastructure is defined in code, and why you hold the domain and the source. You would not be stranded.
How long does it take?
A straightforward business site is usually a couple of weeks from go-ahead to live, and the timeline is part of the quote. Delays almost always come from waiting on content — text, photos, logins — so the more of that you have ready, the faster it moves.
